i know that a lot of historical names have claimed to be a god.

but, jesus arguably claimed to be god.

scripture says he's the creator.

If you want to throw in an athiest point of view as "God", I'm ok with that. Just trying to collect all the options here at first.

So far we got Jesus, Jehovah, Allah, Nothing, can anyone think of any other contenders as God, the Creator etc. Is that the whole list?

Did any of the regional gods claim to be the Almighty? Thor, Odin, Zeus etc? I don't think so, but I could be wrong.

I had a Hindu show me a picture of a young boy on a magazine once and told me this was Krishna. I asked who that was. He said Krisna was God. So, should we add Krisna to the list? I think so.

I'm just wondering who the contenders are if a person doesn't believe in the miracles that atheists believe in, ie. , life from non-life, matter from non matter, order from chaos, information from non-intelligence, laws from lawlessness, logic from non logic, etc. These are huge miracles that defy explanation and have no basis in reality.

It just occured to me that Jesus might be the only game in town if the atheist paradigm is not acceptable. Is anyone aware of anyone else claiming to be God, as in the Creator?

I know that a lot of historical names have claimed to be a god. But, Jesus arguably claimed to be God. Scripture says he's the Creator. Is this a somewhat unique claim? If so, how unique? I'm not really aware of anyone else claiming to be THE Almighty.

What say you?

JW-God's channel of communication

We are in the church age. The one before that was the age of Law. The last days refers to the last dispensation before Christ returns to set up his Millenial Reign.

There is no such thing as new light. There are no new prophets. The bible canon was closed with the death of the last apostle and with that, the Word of God is God's complete revelation to man. Anyone who preaches a message that the apoistles didn't preach are cursed. (Gal. 1: 8-9)

John 5:39. “Search the scriptures; for in them ye think ye have eternal life: and they are they which testify of me.”

Acts 10: 43 - To him give all the prophets witness, that through his name whosoever believeth in him shall receive remission of sins.

Waiting On Jehovah First Mentioned?

yes, waiting on jehovah for him to handle a problem/ doctrine etc.. when did the jw's first start saying that?

they've been saying it as long as i can remember.. what scriptures do they trot out to back that teaching up?

Probably from the beginning. That phrase is exclusively an OT command. The WT refuses to preach on the new command in the new testament to go to Jesus instead. Jesus is the reason people were waiting in the OT!

Over 400 times in the OT it mentions the phrase, "thus saith the Lord"; but that phrase is not in the NT even one time. However, 135 times the NT records Jesus saying "I say unto you". The NT nevers counsels to wait on Jehovah!

The reason the WT constantly advises to "wait on Jehovah" is because biblically it is a waste of time. They refuse to go to Jesus as directed. JW's are among the most disobedient people on earth.

Hebrews 1: 1 - 2 God, who at various times and in diverse ways spoke long ago to the fathers through the prophets, has in these last days spoken to us by His Son

The reason the WT exists is because of biblical ignorance. No one is God's channel in the Church Age as the verse above announces. The Son inhabits each saved believer through the new birth.

Col 1:27 To them God has chosen to make known among the Gentiles the glorious riches of this mystery, which is Christ in you, the hope of glory.

Jehovah's Witnesses (and all other unsaved people) are naturally quite happy with their first birth and certainly don't want Jesus living inside of them. So, they opt for another channel since the one God provided isn't good enough for them.

The reason that God must work from the inside is because exterior Laws were proven beyond a doubt not to work in the Age of Law, which ended at the Cross.

Christ was the end of the Law. He offers himself not only as a substitute for our punishment due each of us, but also as a substitute for our "righteousness". Is. 64: 6 - "all our righteousnesses are like filthy rags".

If people had a clear understanding of what Christianity is, regardless if they personally accept it or not, the WT could not exist because it is so opposite of scripture and apostolic teaching.

If people make the choice not to invite Jesus into their being, I can't see how they could ever follow such a blasphemous organization such as the WT. They only do it out of ignorance.

Shaking Down Satan - WT Sues Norway

i wonder how many witnesses are aware that the wt and their team of lawyers are currently suing the government of norway for millions of dollars?

i thought that the wt taught that all the governments were run by satan.

when i was a witness, this would have really bothered me.

The reason that JW kids get thrown under the bus is because of the near fever pitch hysteria that WT puts its members through regarding Armageddon. Since I was a little kid, my parents believed that Armageddon and mass killing and destruction could break out at any moment. As a result of this fear, all kinds of insane parenting seems ok if it will help save someone from being destroyed at Armageddon. This is the real reason for JW mental and emotional abuse of children: Hysterical Fear

True story: I knew a JW family that their eldest daughter turned 14 in 1977. Like a lot of kids then, she started to act out because of a combination of the spectre of Armageddon and the failed 1975 prophecy. She became sexually active with someone in her neighborhood. He was 26 years old. Instead of calling the police (agents of Satan) like a normal parent would do, her parents encouraged them to marry. I am convinced that the reason was so that she would not be destroyed at Armageddon for slipping around fornicating. I can almost bet the local elders were in on this as well, but can't confirm. The girl was unbaptized.

She was so young that they had to give parental permission for her to marry. Later it was found out that the man she married was an ex-convict and had been previously married. He had done time in a different state for shooting his wife in the face with a shotgun. Not sure if she died or not.

So instead of going back to prison for statutory rape where he belonged, he got to marry his victim and make her life a living hell for the next two years until she finally left him and had to move back home.

Of course everyone blamed the girl for being stupid, sinful, and prideful for not leaning on Jehovah. She is still alive I'm told, but her alcoholism is so advanced she cannot put two coherent sentences together from what I understand from a family member.
